It’s April 10, 2017: At 4:30 a. m. the alarm clock pulls me out of my sleep. I get up, have breakfast and get on my way to the station. I travel to Andermatt by S-Bahn, Regio Express and Regiobahn. Because of the altitude, it is still quite fresh in April. I walk down the Schöllenen gorge towards Göschenen and cross the Devil’s Bridge, which according to legend could only be built with the help of the devil. (more…)
Monday, 27 February 2017: It is five o’ clock in the morning, I get up, have breakfast and set off for Graubünden. At 8:15 am I arrive at the station Versam-Safien. First I climb the slope to Versam, which is about 200 meters higher than the station. (more…)
Yesterday it became known that poachers in the French zoo of Thoiry killed a rhinoceros bull with three bullets and sawed off one of its horns. Already two years ago I reported about rhinoceros poaching at the NZZ during my internship (Umgebremsete Jagd auf Nashörner). For current reason I’ll give you a short update here. (more…)

The calendar sheet shows Wednesday, October 5,2016, I get up early in the morning and take the train to Sedrun. The views are magnificent. The weather forecast predicts ten hours of sunshine and cloudless weather. On the train I wonder when the sun will finally come up. Much more clouds do not fit there.
It’s Saturday, August 27, 2016, so the weather forecast predicts fantastic weather, so I’m taking the first train to Göschenen and Andermatt. The journey continues by post bus to Hospental, where the ascent to the Gotthard Pass begins.
It is Thursday 25 August 2016 and the summer is at its best: it should be hot and sunny – ideal to go up into the sky. A colleague picks me up at 5:30 and we drive to Andermatt together.
